She Works Hard For Her Money!

I do not wish to go to work today.

I'd rather stay home and read people's blogs. Blogs that I've neglected to read for a good while, since so far, this summer has been a whirlwind! Blogs like Baby Making by Becky. She has two adorable twin boys, Grey and Micah! I've caught up on The Great Umbrella Heist, written by the lovely Sarah about her identical triplet girls, Allie, Emily, and Anna. I've also stayed up to date with First Day of My Life, written by my beautiful friend, Cami. There are just so many other blogs I wish I was caught up on! I suppose those will have to wait until tomorrow when I FINALLY have a day off from work AND have nowhere else I HAVE to be! Heck...I might even get some sewing done! :-D

Have a great day, all!

Sorry For My Silence

Ok ok...I know. I KNOW! I've been silent on here for a few weeks. I promise, it is not without reason, though! So much has been going on in my life these days, so unless you follow me on Instagram (angelsingin4jc) or are my friend on My Fitness Pal (angelsingin4jc), then you probably think I've been MIA!

Here's what's been going down...

  • Vance burned his hand. He grabbed the handle to a stainless steel pot that had been over a burner that was on. (He turned on the wrong burner.) He had 1st and 2nd degree burns. He was in a lot of pain for a few days, but healed VERY quickly and had no infections! (Praise!)

  • I had a pinched nerve/pulled muscle in my neck that hurt so terrible bad, that I was practically paralyzed for 24 hours. I could NOT move at all one day. It was BAD! I eventually worked through it and now it's 99% better!

  • We are 8 (9 on Saturday) weeks into our weight loss journey and doing SWELL! At the 8 week mark, Vance has lost 20.9 lbs and I have lost 26.4 lbs! Woo hoo! We both lost our first 20 lbs WELL before our July 7th goal. I'm hoping to lose another 10-15 by my cousin's wedding on July 14th! Vance is in the wedding as her fiance's groomsman. P.S. This is the 4th summer I've known Vance. This is the 4th summer he's had to wear a tux and be in someone's wedding (including ours in 2010.)

-26.4 lbs (5-11-12)
-20.9 lbs (5-11-12)

  • We are MOVING! I am so excited to get out of the house we're currently renting. It has one TINY bathroom...that has no outlets!! The house is 110+ years old and has all the charm and the quirks of a home that age. It needs some major renovating, to say the least. It has no dishwasher. NO DISHWASHER! Two years of having Vance as my only dishwasher (and my own two hands when the blue moon occurs) makes me say enough is enough! We've been apartment searching for several months now (Vance is also tired of mowing the lawn) and I finally found one that's in an excellent location, has a fantastic price, and is swanky! Seriously. They're nice apartments. I was scared because of the prices they have online, but when we went in we found the deal of a lifetime for their 2 bedroom, 2 bath floor plan! I am so excited! My own bathroom! A dishwasher! A pantry! A fireplace! A large fenced in patio! A laundry room! Outlets in my bathroom! Walk-in closets! Almost 1000 sq ft! YES! So excited! Oh and it also has a pretty awesome gym, a dog park, a pool, etc. etc. Plus, it's two minutes from the mall and about 7 minutes from Max's house. Pretty exciting stuff! We officially move in June 4th!

  • I am working all the freaking time. I get a day or half a day here or there when I don't have to work one or both of my jobs, but let me tell you...I don't get paid enough for all the time I spend working! Haha. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful I have two jobs...some people don't have one!!...but it's exhausting at times!

  • Still no luck on the baby front. It's more difficult at some times than it is at others, but I try not to dwell on it. On Mother's Day, I focused on my mom, Grandma, and mother-in-law, so I didn't have time to focus on my babyless self. Oh and we played 2+ hours of volleyball...which I did in a skirt, leggings, and tank top. Hahaha! I was perfectly dressed for sports! (I played volleyball in a dress and leggings at Thanksgiving. I'm beginning to develop a trend....) OH! We were supposed to have a make-up doctor's appointment next week, but I'm watching Max while his grandma is out of town. I don't really want to take a 23 month old with me to the doctor, so we are rescheduling. It's my 6 month follow-up to my initial appointment back in December. I'm really looking forward to being like "So yeah...I've lost 30 lbs since I was last here!"
Setting up the picnic area!
Grandma opening her present from Vance and I!

  • We redeemed my Christmas present last weekend! Vance's Christmas present to me this year was two tickets to see the traveling Broadway show, WICKED!! I seriously cried during parts of it! It was SPECTACULAR!!! I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present! We're thinking of doing this every year for our Christmas present to each other, since we both loved it so much. We're thinking of either going to Mary Poppins or Sister Act next year, since we saw posters about them at DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) while waiting for Wicked. Before seeing the show, we ate at Cuban Revolution. Great food with a fun atmosphere! After the performance, and to gear up for the hour and a half drive home, we got some food/milkshakes from Steak 'n Shake! Seriously! Best. Christmas. Present. EVER!!!

Aaaaand...I think that's all the major news as of late! What have you been up to these days? I'd love to hear from you! I've missed you all!

Thankful Thuesday 4-19-12

I haven't done a Thankful Thursday in a couple of weeks! Not because I have nothing to be thankful for, but because I haven't had the time to write a post!

1. Weight Loss
I'm down 16.5 lbs as of Monday morning! Woohoo! I am well on my way to my 20 lbs down by July 7th and 50 lbs down by December 31st goals! Pretty excited about it! I've never stuck with a weight loss program this long and I've never lost this much weight during one program. Pretty awesome! Also, I feel pretty great due to exercising Mon-Fri for at least 30 minutes. :-)

2. Vance
He's a spectacular husband. He cooks. He cleans. He shops for groceries. He mows the lawn. He takes care of me. He encourages me and joins me in my weight loss. He loves me unconditionally. He's wonderful.

3. My jobs
Working at Old Navy is obnoxious at times. The schedule is inconvenient sometimes. The customers are a pain sometimes. The co-workers are lazy and/or gossipy at times. However, I am grateful for my job there and that I like it 95% of the time! I LOVE watching Max. He's hilarious, charming, adorable, and sweet! He says some funny things and repeats almost everything I say. Good thing I don't swear! He brings a lot of joy to my life!

4. The NC Zoo
Vance and I invited my mom and youngest sister, Hannah, to go to the zoo last Saturday. We had a blast! It was a nice day and a lot of the animals were active! The NC Zoo is one of the best in the country. I'm so blessed that it's so close to where I live! Elephants are my fav, but the giraffes were sooo cool that day!

What are you thankful for today? Come link up over at my sweet friend, Cami's blog, First Day of My Life!

WOW!

I saw this on YouTube yesterday. It's a group of kids from a local church who had a "flash mob" at Hanes Mall, where I work. I was actually working at Old navy when this happened, but I had no idea it took place, since the food court is on the opposite end of the mall of Old Navy. I LOVE that they chose the song, "The Earth is Yours" by Gungor. I LOVE Gungor. What an awesome testament of faith. Apparently, it was a huge hit. P.S. I am exceptionally proud of these teens even though I don't know them. To speak (or sing) so freely of your faith is NOT easy. These must be some pretty cool kids. :-)

I Don't Have a Lot To Say

I don't have a lot to say, which isn't normal for me.

I'm sad. A lot. I think I'm struggling with Depression. It happens every time around this year, but just like every other year, I don't remember it until it's hit. It's also a lot worse this year, because of the whole infertility thing. I don't think I'm ok, but I'm also not a self-harmer or suicidal or anything, so please don't worry about me, too much.

One of my Old Navy managers said to me on Saturday, "Are you not happy today, Angela?" Instead of getting into why I'm not happy (she's one of the managers who knows about our issues TTC) I just said, "Oh. Well, I'll fix that." I slapped on my happy "I'm working with customers" face and moved forward. Most customers do make me happy, though. The nice ones anyway. The rude/uninterested customers really should go to another line, because those are the customers that annoy me, so thus, I annoy them by laying the sweetness on extra thick. Heh. Killing them with kindness, eh, Mom?

I constantly feel the struggle to get up and do something when I'm alone. I just want to sit. All day. Do nothing. It isn't laziness. It's sadness. It's heavy. Sometimes I feel some anxiety over it. I don't think that's exactly healthy, but I'm not having anxiety attacks, so again, please don't worry about me, too much.

Vance has been amazing through all of this. He is so compassionate, understanding, loving, generous, and patient. If I were in his shoes, I'm not sure I would put up with half of what he's putting up with from me. Sometimes, when I'm exceptionally sad, I get angry, and I have an outburst. It isn't pretty, but he's there. He holds me even when I tell him to go away. He tells me he loves me when I'm not being lovable.  He lets me cry. He let's me take up 3/4 of the bed because that's how I fell asleep. He is the best.

I don't want to be at church. We haven't been in Sunday school for a couple of months now. It's painful for me. It stresses me out. It isn't like anyone cares if we're there anyway. No one has reached out and asked us to come back...did I mention my best friend is in the class? Not even she has reached out. It's sad, but whatever. We got to service every once in a while, but I have to force myself to go. I don't want to be around a lot of people and at a church of 1400+, that's not exactly easy to avoid. My mom and dad...and my 16 year old sister...keep getting onto me about not being there. I know they have good intentions, but I just CAN'T do it right now. I think they worry about me, but they don't know how to express it. My dad is terrible at communicating, so it turns into a demand and possible yelling. My mom has backed off some and just lets us know she missed us, which I appreciate. My sister, Hannah, is hit or miss with whether she's going to be compassionate or demanding. She's a teenager. I expect that. Heh.

We have these things called Legacy groups on Sunday nights. Each year, at the beginning of each year (usually around February) the entire church signs up for home groups. Everyone goes to their home group each week for 5 weeks. We all do the same daily devotions, written by church staff, elders, deacons, and church members. We then meet up on Sunday night at the home we signed up for and go through the same lesson taught by different teachers. It's a pretty cool way to get to know people outside of the church building, in a smaller setting. Oh and we also eat a meal each week. Gotta love food and fellowship, right? On the 6th week, we all meet at the church and have a sort of celebration conclusion. People share how the Legacy groups have impacted them. We sing praises to God. We celebrate how God has sustained Pinedale (our church) and how he keeps growing us in numbers and in spiritual maturity.

Vance and I didn't sign up for one this year because I work 2-7 at Old Navy almost every Sunday. Legacy groups are 6-8. It just didn't seem fair for us to sign up and only show up once or twice. Well, Saturday evening, my grandma called me. She and my grandpa are a host home. She invited us to sign up for their home and to just come after I get off work each week, even if it's just for dinner (which is around 715 or so.) To say that I was touched she thought of us and invited us, would be an understatement. After we hung up, I cried. Seriously. My grandma reached out to me. She thought of me. She remembered me. I have a feeling she's seen a change in me and wants to help. I don't know though, and I'm not ready to ask. We agreed to go.

I normally get off around 6-615 lately because it's been so slow after Christmas; last night, I didn't get off until 6:45. We were short staffed. We did $4000 over the projected sales. We had over 1100 people come into the store when we've been averaging 700-800 people on a Sunday. I almost called Grandma and said we wouldn't be there since it was so late, and I was tired. I didn't though. I realized that her reaching out like that was a big deal to me and that I wasn't going to let her down. I am really glad we didn't bail. Although we only made it for about 5 minutes of the lesson and then prayer time, I'm glad we went. Oh and we also ate dinner, which was delicious Italian beef, scalloped potatoes, green beans, salad, and dessert. (I ate some of my mom's leftover spice cake she made for lunch...which was at Grandma's house earlier that day with the whole family.)

I'm glad we went last night. I hope I don't have to work next week, though. I also hope I don't have to work the following week, since I signed Vance and I up to bring stuffed shells. :-)

Ok. I guess I had more to say than I thought I did.
