I don't know how things work in your family, but growing up, we always made our costumes. We didn't buy those flimsy overpriced costumes that you pray make it through the night without exposing yourself. Plus, those things are THIN and since I am originally from Central NY, they just didn't cut it...especially the years it snowed on October 31st. Anyway, now that I'm an adult, I don't really want to put TOO much time, effort, or money into my costume, so I try to use basic items that I already have in my wardrobe and/or accessorize using inexpensive accessories.
Last year, I bought $3 fairy wings, glitter hairspray, and some black nail polish. I made a tutu out of purple and black tulle, wore a black shirt and leggings that I already owned, did some crazy eye makeup and called myself a dark fairy. :-) The hubs wore his golf pants, golf shoes, a golf polo, golf hat, and carried a golf club. I'll give you two guesses what his costume was...and the first one doesn't count. :-)
I was playing around on Polyvore creating a style board for the hubs and my 2011 Halloween costumes (look for it on Fashion Friday, 10/28) when I had the idea to create a few other style boards to offer others inspiration for Halloween costumes! Here are some I came up with!
What are you going to be for Halloween?

I love these and just in time for our Halloween party coming up!
